Background:
POWERGRID is one of the largest transmission utilities in the world with over 177,000 ckm. of transmission lines and 278 substations. We are pleased to inform you that POWERGRID is embarking on a substantial initiative aimed at developing Indigenous SAS/SCADA capabilities. This endeavor reflects a strategic focus on fostering indigenous innovation and self-reliance, thereby enhancing expertise within India. By investing in the development of these critical technologies locally, POWERGRID is not only bolstering its own capabilities but also contributing to the broader goal of advancing technological self-sufficiency in the country. This initiative underscores a commitment to innovation and a vision for a more self-reliant future in the field of SAS/SCADA systems.
Government of India has envisaged to increase the non-fossil fuel based installed electricity generation capacity to 500 GW by 2030. For enabling growth of Renewable Energy (RE) capacity, areas which have high solar and wind energy potential, needs to be connected to Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), so that the power generated could be evacuated to the load centres. Thus, considering many new transmission projects and upgradation of assets that are due for upgradation, there is a huge scope & opportunities in implementation of SAS/SCADA system in next 20 years.
Based on technical evaluation of the SAS/SCADA as per POWERGRID’s technical specifications, a pilot project for implementation of SAS/SACAD shall be given. Subsequently, after a successful demonstration of performance, vendor approval shall be given.
Qualified and experienced vendors are invited to participate in this pivotal project scheduled for implementation during the fiscal year 2024-25.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the POWERGRID’s requirement for SAS/SCADA system and provide necessary clarifications to ensure a clear understanding of the project requirements.
